Ian Smith - Chairman

Ian heads up the executive management team. Whilst primarily responsible for the overall performance and strategic development of the business, he takes a close interest in Power Train's creative output and evolution.

Out of hours: Ian is a keen tennis player and, strangely, can often be found reading the latest copy of 'Rail Magazine'!


Jill Dean - Managing Director

Jill has overall control of all client-facing activities: from initial contact, through sales negotiation, to assignment delivery. Her remit is to ensure that we deliver results and customer satisfaction every step of the way. Jill is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Out of hours: Jill is an accomplished golfer and an expert in the field of applied retail therapy!


Aly Veale - Head of Client Services

As Head of Client Services, Aly's role is to oversee all client management activity. She also manages the design function and ensures we interpret a client's brief then design a solution that excites, inspires, surprises and – most importantly of all – delivers exceptional results.  Aly also gets to rehearse and coach trainers and actors, drives the quality of events and resources and works closely with suppliers including production companies and AV specialists.

Out of hours:  Aly loves listening to a wide range of music and is a regular gig queen.  She often visits Italy and likes sampling the local produce. She can be found zooming around Bristol in her new mini!


Mike Andrews - Commercial Manager

Mike has wide-ranging responsibilities for all things financial, legal and commercial within Power Train. A qualified Chartered Accountant with wide industry experience and enormous patience, Mike is an IT buff who is never happier than when quietly communing with the office server!

Out of hours: Mike is a dedicated vegetarian who loves cooking, gardening and is an avid cricket fan.


Michelle Goodfellow - Operations Manager

Michelle has responsibility for all things operational within Power Train. Overseeing the project management of our assignments and day-to-day activities, she makes sure we don't miss a deadline. A qualified teacher from north of the border, she has unrivalled attention to detail, for which we are all very grateful!

Out of hours: A keen Korfball player (apparently it's Dutch!), Michelle can often be seen out, attempting to recruit new club members in unlikely locations! She is an avid follower of Scottish international rugby or, at least, the players.


Donna Swift - Client Services Manager

Donna looks after several key clients from Power Train’s portfolio.  Her role encompasses managing all aspects of the events that are being delivered for her clients. She ensures the successful implementation of these events from start-up right through to evaluation. Donna is a Licentiate Member of the CIPD.

Out of hours:  Donna is the companies country contingent, and spends her spare time looking after her chickens, tending her land and running around after her energetic four year old.  When she's not doing this she enjoys riding her motorbike and goes running on a regular basis to keep fit.


Lucy Davies - Client Services Manager
Lucy Davies - Client Services Manager

Lucy also looks after several key clients from Power Train’s portfolio. Her role encompasses managing all aspects of the events that are being delivered for her clients. She ensures the successful implementation of these events from start-up right through to evaluation.

Out of hours: At weekends, Lucy can be found at her local squash court, watching Spurs or trying out her latest recipe in the kitchen. Lucy is also a keen traveller and frequently dusts off her backpack for a new adventure.


Rebecca Green - Business Support Manager

Rebecca heads up the Business Support team who ensure the office and our assignments function smoothly. She also has overall responsibility for logistics and scheduling activities. With a background in training and recruitment, Rebecca has the experience to oversee our approved register of Associates.

Out of hours: A globe trekker at heart, she's happiest when planning that next big trip.


The senior management team is backed by a head office team and over 70 Training and Actor Consultants.

Paul Mason - Senior Consultant

Paul has worked for Power Train as both a Training Consultant and Senior Training Consultant since 1999. He has significant experience in the diagnostic, design, delivery and evaluation of assignments. He has conducted one-to-one coaching and provided consultancy and management support for various clients. Paul has worked on numerous Power Train assignments including: Network Rail, South West Trains, Chiltern Rail, Northern Ireland Railways, Mercedes-Benz, Boehringer Ingelheim, Ipswich Town football club, Harvey Nichols, Chrysler Group, BT Global Services and BT Ignite, Silica, Bradford & Bingley and Vodafone. Paul holds a BTEC Certificate in Management Studies. He is a licensed practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and a Licensed LIFO Organisation trainer.


Adele Martin - Senior Consultant

Adele has worked for Power Train as a Senior Consultant since 2006. She has considerable experience in all aspects of the consultancy cycle including diagnostic, design delivery and evaluation and has provided ongoing consultancy support for a number of our key clients. Adele has worked on several Power Train assignments including Mercedes-Benz, Northern Ireland Railways, LCH.Clearnet, British Gas. Adele has a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management.


Sarah-Jane Georges - Senior Consultant

Sarah-Jane joined Power Train in 1999 and has gained considerable experience working with our rail industry clients, including: c2c, Stansted Express, First Great Western, Network Rail, Northern Ireland Railways, Chiltern Rail and TfL. She has also worked with us on assignments such as Virgin Mobile, Virgin Media, Virgin Atlantic Airways, Friends Provident, Vodafone, Isle of Man Steam Packet and Hoverspeed to name a few! Sarah-Jane is CIPD qualified.


Sarah Lonton - Training Consultant

Sarah is an experienced 'Powertrainer' having worked with us since 2002. She is has extensive experience in the rail industry with Power Train, including: working with c2c, First Great Western, Midland Mainline, Virgin Trains, TfL and Network Rail. Sarah currently working on assignments with Mercedes-Benz and Virgin Media. She trained at Bristol University Drama Dept and has a BA Hons & PGCE from Goldsmith's College.


Martin Austin - Actor Consultant

Martin has worked as an Actor Consultant for Power Train since 2004 for numerous clients including British Gas, Virgin Trains, Virgin Media, Scottish Widows, Bradford & Bingley, Gatwick Express, Visa and Mercedes-Benz. Away from the Corporate training sector Martin has played a variety of rogues and vagabonds in the Theatre, TV and commercials. His claim to fame is having a conversation with Pat Butcher and Pauline Fowler in the Eastenders canteen about which dogs would win Crufts that year. He lives in London, has two sons and supports Spurs.


Helen Goldwyn - Actor Consultant

Helen works for Power Train as an Actor Consultant on a variety of assignments. She has extensive acting experience in a number of industries and has worked on a range of significant Power Train assignments including: Midland Mainline, Virgin Trains, Mercedes-Benz, Vodafone, BT Global Services, TGI Friday's, Inmarsat and Boehringer Ingelheim. Helen has a Diploma in Performing Arts, an NVQ in Business Administration of Arts and has had featured roles in numerous theatre, film and television productions.
