Can you tell us briefly what you do at Power Train?
I manage the Operations function within the business that encompasses anything from Facilities to Business Support to Logistics to IT to HR. My main aim is to ensure that the business runs smoothly whether that be keeping the office upright, resourcing, overseeing the project management of our assignments or making sure we have the right systems and processes in place to function effectively.
What attracted you to work for Power Train?
Having finished a PGCE a few years prior and realising that teaching was really just another form of crowd control, I was initially attracted to the idea of training adults. However, realising that adults can be just as rowdy as children (and probably not remotely interested in Geography), I opted for the much more Thinkery role of Operations where I am at my happiest!
What is your most memorable Power Train moment?
Snooping around the interior of a Maybach car at Mercedes-Benz World where we were running a Power Train event for new clients. The car was so luxurious, it cost more than my house – good enough to live in!
What are your favourite past times/hobbies?
I aspire to being a Percy Thrower (who remembers Blue Peter in the 1970s/80s?) and love pottering around my garden and trying to grow veggies! I am an avid viewer of athletics (bring on the Olympics!) and play korfball, although I try to keep fairly quiet about it as I spend a large amount if time trying to explain to people what it is!
What’s the best thing, and the worst thing, about working for Power Train?
I work in a great team and that makes me come to work everyday. We’ve also got a fantastic team of 100 Associates who are out there delivering our events. The worst thing I would say is the noise in the office when we’re really busy so I’m canvassing for Power Train slippers to keep the noise down and a office dog to keep us all calm!
