Can you tell us briefly what you do at Power Train?
I am a Senior Consultant at Power Train, which is a posh way of saying I do a bit of everything. I like to get involved in most parts of the process working with a client. This could include; coming up with an idea to suit a clients requirement, diagnosing client issues and making recommendations, designing training, roadshows, and DVD’s, rehearsing our teams of actors and training consultants, and delivering training, presentations, and roadshows.
What attracted you to work for Power Train?
Power Train creates fun, interactive different and dynamic events - which really hit the mark. They are 100% relevant to the needs and realities of every business they work with because they do their research, and the methods they use are 100% effective because they tap into the emotional core of participants which creates lasting behavioural change. Now that makes training cool and I wanted to be part of that.
What is your most memorable Power Train moment?
Probably being in Budapest to run a presentation to 300 senior executives at their annual conference. We had staged it so that an actor would interrupt the MD from the audience in the middle of his speech, and we were nervous to see how it would be received. The actor got up and began to heckle and there was an audible gasp. Then one of the men on the next table tried to move him and silence him and I knew we’d made the right impact. We may have had a drink or two after that event!
What are your favourite past times/hobbies?
I love cooking and eating great food. Whenever I have spare time at home, I like to get into the kitchen and create something delicious. If I’m not cooking it I like to go out and sample some of the great chefs and find ideas to steal. My other great passion is travel. I love exploring new places and new countries and would name Laos, Brazil and Peru as three of my favourite countries. If I didn’t do the job I did, I’d love to be a travel food writer!
What’s the best thing, and the worst thing, about working for Power Train?
The people. We have a great and very patient team who support us in the office and cope with the demands of trainers and actors. A top notch bunch of trainers who really know their onions and a really talented pool of actors who make coming to work fun!
